Batman Hand Puppet by Ideal

Batman hand puppet This Batman hand puppet was released by toymaker Ideal as part of the merchandising blitz that surrounded the popularity of the Batman TV series in 1966.

The puppet was made of vinyl and was 12" long.

This toy was available for sale in various packages. The most common was a polybagged puppet with illustrated header card that also featured Superman (shown at right); also available was a boxed version with similar artwork, but which is more difficult to find and thus commands more on the secondary market. A Batman and a Robin puppet were both avaiable in a boxed set which is even more difficult to locate.

A Batman Puppet Theater Stage Set was available from Sears exclusively. This featured puppets of Batman, Robin, and the Joker, and both a stage set background and a panoramic Gotham City backdrop. This is rather difficult to find in excellent condition.
