Poor Pitiful Pearl was a doll made by a few different companies, but the most popular versions (in different sizes and sold in different
ways) were the ones produced by Horsman. The doll, who was purposely produced to be homely (see Little Miss No Name for another,
similar strategy), was based on drawings by the popular cartoonist William Steig. Some packaging options included Pearl in her usual
ppor-girls' clothing but with a lovely party dress so that the owner could dress her up and improve her station in life.
