Happy Days was a comedy TV series that ran from 1974 to 1984 on ABC. It was originally about the shenanigans of a typical American teenager (Richie Cunningham, played by Ron Howard) in the 1950's. The show began as an episode of the romantic-comedy anthology Love, American Style, and begat a number of spin-offs, including Laverne and Shirley, Mork & Mindy, and Joanie Loves Chachi. Although Richie was the main protagonist, the show soon focused on the character of The Fonz, a motorcycle-riding, leather jacket-wearing ladies' man who quickly became very popular.
