The New Fantastic Four game (featuring Herbie the Robot)

New Fantastic Four game Milton Bradley launched their New Fantastic Four game in 1978.

The object of the game is for each player to move his token through the Research Lab of the Fantastic Four's enemy, Doctor Doom, in order to rescue the captured robot Herbie and return him safely home, the circle marked Mission Complete.

Pieces include game board with stand-up sections (including spinner) and 4 tokens. The game is for 2 to 4 players, aged 7 to 12.

Like many of the Marvel superhero-based games released by Milton Bradley in the 1970's, this one is rather poor in play and construction. For all of the popularity the characters had with kids during that time, the company could have made even a slightly better effort to produce games that better incorporated the rich fictional Marvel Universe, rather than tacking Marvel character likenesses on otherwise generic games like this one.

At the time this game was released, a Saturday morning cartoon of the Fantastic Four had the (widely-reviled) Herbie the Robot character in place of the Human Torch, who was then licensed to another company.
